Hey, I’m Dan - a BAFTA award-winning and Writers’ Guild of Great Britain award-nominated Game Director with over a decade of development experience. I’m currently working full-time Game Director at FuturLab.

I developed The Spectrum Retreat as a solo developer for 3 years, before winning funding and building a team to develop the game to completion and releasing it on every major platform.

Since then, I’ve worked on a number of games in various capacities. I’ve coded, designed, written and directed for numerous companies in both permanent and contract roles.

Aside from development and BizDev experiences, I’ve also pitched and presented, for both my own projects and representing others. I’ve presented games live in person to large audiences, including at major conferences such as E3, GDG and Develop.

I have extensive experience in game design, with a specific interest in narrative design, finding new and innovative ways to craft narrative systems that work together to create new experiences and leveraging them to maximum effect.

I’m also a confident C#, Python and JS programmer, having studied Computer Science at the University Of Leeds and developed a strong understanding of Unity, an engine in which I’ve gained extensive design and technical experience over my 10+ years of continuous use.

I’ve worked primarily as a game designer, working on my own projects while offering my services on a consultancy basis. I like to solve problems, in both the design and technical aspects of game development, and - although I’m primarily a designer - like to think that my solid technical foundation allows me to bridge the gap between coders and designers by offering insight into both disciplines.

Regardless of what stage of development you’re at, if you need someone who can bring creative clarity to your team and deliver on a vision… please get in touch!
